DJ First Rate, it is Paul Bruce met hiphop and scratch when the oldskool rap was at its peak: in the golden era of Afrika Bambaataa, Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash, so Paul fell in love with the vinyls right away. He developed his amazing technique being closed in his room with his vinyls for years, and then after it all went on its way: selections, competitions, awards, becomes member of the Scratch Perverts.

Scrach Perverts egsisted in its original line up only for two-three yers, after which First Rate broke out  from the hiphop-subculture scene and became a real megastar DJ. His maistream production carreer is almost unbelievable: he scratched on Morcheeba’s Big Calm album, then on the Fragments of Freedom while was touring in the meantime for two years with the Massive Attack, but his acts also include those with the Beastie Boys, Mixmaster Mike, Mos Def, Killa Kela, Jurassic 5, Run DMC, Paul Simon, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Paul Weller, Roni Size and even De La Soul too.
