
Karaván Família
The Karavan Familia is a Gipsy World-music group from Hungary - plays traditional Gipsy music arrangements with individual effects and sounds. (The music of Karavan familia: real Gipsy atmosphera with some Mississipi blues, flamenco, rumba and eastern roots.)
They are a real family: Parents are István Nagy (vocal, guitar, tamboura, blues harmonica) and Ilona Farkas (vocal, dance) played before in Romanyi Rota, Romano Kokalo, and István was a guest artist on Transglobal Underground recording "Rejoice, Rejoice" (1998). The Karavan's first CD entitled "Gipsy Flamenco" (EMI, 2002) where Boban Markovic (Gipsy trumpet player from Serbia) participated as a guest musician.
In 2003 the group enlarged with the two children of the artist-couple. István was born in 1991 (vocal, guitar, cajon) and Nikolett was born in 1993 (vocal, guitar, dance). Karavan Familia wants to popularise and preserve the artistic and human worth of Gipsy culture. Their aim is refreshing Gipsy folk music in Hungary by mixing the traditional and popular elements in their music. Their first CD "Gipsy Crossroads" came out in 2006 october and the new album came out in 2008 june. (Karavan Familia: "La familijaki zor" / The power of family)
