The Gigiz, 21 vek (MK), Soviet Monday

The Gigiz
Maybe not two bagpipe players, but two singer-guitarists can still fit in a tavern - nothing proves this better than the fact that after the Libertines, there is finally a new Hungarian formation in which two equally charismatic frontmen lead the band. Moreover, The Gigiz's responsive vocals are not paired with just any background music: irresistibly melodic and loud, sometimes with shoegaze, sometimes with stoner indie rock. It mostly reminds me of early Blood Red Shoes, but a lot of solos and stoner elements make it energetic and real hard rock music.
Behind Imre Sziszák and Tibor Nagy, Korai Öröm founder Viktor Csányi plays drums, with whom Imre previously played in Kösz Vitya. They were joined by the ex-frontman of Yolcadikos, Tibor Nagy. In Imre and Tibor's dialogue-like texts, girls and sci-fi are mixed, which are made memorable by sing-along melodies. The album was recorded in a special location, the Zengőkert studio, literally in the middle of nowhere, under wildly novel conditions. Gábor Bánházi, the drummer of Óperentzia és Dust (43), was the owner of the venue and responsible for mastering the record.
Line-up:
Guitar/bass/vocals – Tibor Nagy
Guitar/vocals – Imre Sziszák
Drums – Viktor Csányi
