
HOTS Workshop w/ Magda Cholyst (PL) & Tony Duckworth (UK)

The international applications of the Hangfoglaló Program are not only for getting a tour but also a career building strategy for the 2019 season, so successful productions can now submit their applications to the College with specific goals and professional backgrounds. While the Hangouts-powered lightweight export agency, HOTS (Hungarian Oncoming Tunes), provides the market-stimulating, ongoing international presence for the second year, the new call for proposals, which will support both professional players and the backbone, as well as this year's season, the knowledge and the way of thinking that makes the bands who want international career to find their own realistic vision. The first such workshop will focus on career planning and the publishing system with two international guests, including the A38 Ship Backstage.

Magda Cholyst (Artist In Bloom, PL)
Magda Cholystis is a professional coach at HOTS's international mentoring camp, Outbreakers' Lab (OBL), who has been on the Hungarian market for two years now, who has put her life in the art of career-planning in Central and Eastern European bands. In her own practice, she not only motivates the authors, but also describes working models that, by mastering an international career, may ask questions themselves: how do you define your own sound when you see yourself in five years, what to do and around it helping the author? These answers can always be provided by the rapporteur, but Magda's questions and methods are inevitable for OBL participants, and this knowledge would now be made available to all applicants on this one-off event.
Tony Duckworth (PIAS, UK)
The head of the Polish and Eastern European office of [PIAS] Records has been a long way to seeing the internal dynamics of the Central-Eastern European market today. Leading office manager and communications specialist at RCA, AIM and Kartel Music he has been in charge of Play It Again Sam's regional office for 13 years, which has taken over and distributes regional productions in recent years, such as Brodka, Dubioza Kollektiv or just BOKKA. And while the catalog of [PIAS], founded in Belgium, is still one of the most exciting independent repertoires with editions such as Editors, Dead Can Dance, Pixies or Agnes Obel. Tony's essay on talent research will tell about his own aspects and his experiences and expectations in Hungary, as well as the music industry specialist who previously performed at the Budapest Showcase Hub.
