Jason Köhnen (The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, etc.), creator of "doomjazz", will stage his new project The Lovecraft Sextet for the first time in the spring of 2024 after four celebrated albums. In addition, in the impressive roster of the A38 concert on February 29th, on this one evening, Bong-Ra's alter ego will be summoned exclusively for one occasion, with which we recognized him as one of the most recognized breakcore producers throughout Europe from the beginning of the 2000s.
The Lovecraft Sextet (NL)
The Lovecraft Sextet is multi-instrumentalist Jason Köhnen (Bong-Ra, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, etc.), the latest of his many projects. Köhnen coined the term darkjazz back in 1999 when he composed a track titled "Darkjazz" for his 2001 EP Darkbreaks. From then on, we embark on a long musical journey towards dark experimentation, combining the jazz sound palette with a multitude of genres.
He recruited the following line-up to play The Lovecraft Sextet live:
Jason Köhnen – electronics/keyboards
Balázs Pándi - drums
Colin Webster - saxophone
Jean Christophe Bournine - double bass

MERAKHAAZAN (FR)
After a decade of sound research, "Veines", Merakhaazan's second LP, was realized as the France-based artist's vision. Many influences can be felt on it, from post-rock to jazz to cinematic universes, which he single-handedly brings to life with double bass, effects and loops.
BONG-RA (NL), Dj Pandulum, Dj Tobias Moretti, Poor Jiffy X Saboteur
Breakcore pioneer Bong-Ra returns to A38 this evening with a special, one-off DJ set: he celebrates 20 years of "Bikini Bandits, Kill!" among breakcore classics. Kill!' album, which brought him international recognition in the 2010s. A pioneer in a relentless jungle, mixed with metal, drum and bass and extreme breaks, with which he showed the direction of innovative icons such as the unbridled Igorrr.
He will be joined by the cult legend of Budapest, Balázs Pándi under the name Dj Pandulum, who was the first to book breakcore artists and invited legends such as the Venetian Snares to perform several times in Hungary. The fresh faces of Budapest breakcore, Dj Tobias Moretti's solo set and Poor Jiffy x Saboteur's b2b set, complete the evening.
MESTERHÁZY
Almost every musical style can be found on Mesterházy's record shelves, as well as in his DJ bags, which he has been carrying to clubs, festivals, and illegal parties for the past three decades. Around the turn of the millennium, he was there at the birth of domestic breakcore and spread extreme beats on mixtapes. It reflects his multi-faceted DJ attitude that he only took to the stage on the A38 ship alongside performers from different directions, such as Psychic TV, Plaid, Alec Empire, Nosaj Thing, Bizzy B, Wagon Christ or the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble... and then the countless We didn't even mention acid, elekro and techno events. During his life, he embarked on countless projects, left them behind, reshaped them and renewed himself from them. Such is the record label and club night of Syrup.hu. He hides behind the pseudonym Mesterháza with more experimental and film music. Recently, he often appears under the name MZ/Y as an improvisational acid-electro synthesizer with a live act.
