One of the most exciting phenomena of Russian contemporary art in recent years has been the activity of a creative group in St. Petersburg, as well as artistic events taking place in the gallery and art space they have founded.
The Галерея Свиное рыло, it is Pig Snout art gallery is an independent art center in St. Petersburg founded and operated by a group called the Sorcery Artists. The group has been working for fifteen years, and consists of about ten artists of different ages and art techniques. Their main idea is that art is real, and that the creative impulse in creative work is the most important instead of the so-called "professionalism".
The Sorcery Artists consider their style and working method as Toon-realism, a branch of pop art, in which the childish world of animated films becomes realistic and convincing. They do this with zero seriousness, ironically, sometimes with black humor and without any political correctness.
The artworks by the Sorcery Artists have been exhibited in many renowned places, including the State Russian Museum, the Manege, the Erarta Contemporary Art Museum and European galleries such as Artveras and Le Ruine in Switzerland.
Their three-year-old gallery, the Pig Snout, has now become the seat of witch artists, where the most funny and wonderful exhibitions have been held, and is has since become one of St. Petersburg's most visited and popular cultural centers and exhibition venues.

Concert by NOM and Tudósok
N.O.M. (RU)
NOM is an acronym for the Russian "Informal Youth Organization" (Neformalnoe Obyedinenie Molodezhi), used by the official Soviet press in 80-s. The band "NOM" appeared in St. Petersburg in 1987 as an absurdic-ironical answer to the great number of "rock" bands in post-soviet Russia. The band used musical cliches of all kinds mixed queerly together with elements of mimic show of idiots, thus reaching strong emotional effect over public.
Critics called NOM "The last bastion of ruthless Russian satire", following literaturial traditions of Gogol and Kharms. NOM's music is a fascinating combination of traditional Russian melodies, rock, progressive rock and even opera.
NOM has been famous for its astonishing live shows and really amusing videos in which it has made fun of all the taboos which had something to do with Soviet Union or also modern Russia. Besides music NOM is also involved in producing comic and feature films, publishing books.
